NEW YORK, July 19 (Reuters) - U.S. newspaper publisher McClatchy Co. (MNI.N) would like to keep its stake in the Careerbuilder.com jobs Web site, but has not made a decision whether to do so, its chief executive said on Thursday.

Mergers & Acquisitions

McClatchy is in talks with fellow stakeholders Gannett Co. Inc. (GCI.N) and Tribune Co. TRB.N about the future of its involvement in the Web site.

"We would like to resolve it sooner rather than later," Pruitt said in a conference call with analysts to discuss the company's second-quarter earnings. "To me, that translates to weeks, not months." (Reporting by Robert MacMillan)
