Suncor Energy's first-quarter profit slips

TORONTO, April 26 (Reuters) - Suncor Energy Inc. (SU.TO) said on Thursday its first-quarter profit was lower compared with its 2006 results when it included proceeds from an insurance claim.

Global Markets

Suncor, best known for its extensive oil sands mining and synthetic crude processing operation in northern Alberta, earned C$551 million ($492 million), or C$1.20 a share during the quarter, down from year-earlier C$713 million, or C$1.56 a share.
