Meredith quarterly profit falls on lower ad sales

NEW YORK, July 30 (Reuters) - Meredith Corp (MDP.N) reported lower quarterly profit on Wednesday because of lower advertising revenue at its magazines and costs associated with job cuts and its book publishing business.

Fourth-quarter net income fell to $19.2 million, or 41 cents a share, compared with $51.5 million, or $1.05 a share, a year earlier.

Excluding charges, the company reported earnings of 76 cents per share.
