NYMEX earnings more than double on one-time gain

NEW YORK, July 31 (Reuters) - NYMEX Holdings Inc NMX.N, the energy and metals exchange nearing an acquisition by CME Group Inc (CME.O), on Thursday said its profit more than doubled in the second quarter, helped by a one-time gain related to an investment in the Montreal Exchange.

The operator of the New York Mercantile Exchange earned a net $94.3 million, or 99 cents a share, up from $41.7 million, or 44 cents a share in the same period a year earlier. (Reporting by Jonathan Spicer, editing by Maureen Bavdek)
