Marshall Edwards: Triphendiol gets additional orphan drug status

Feb 19 (Reuters) - Marshall Edwards Inc (MSHL.O) said its experimental cancer drug triphendiol was granted an orphan drug status by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for treatment of malignant melanoma.

Triphendiol also has an orphan drug status for the treatment of pancreatic cancer and for the treatment of cholangiocarcinoma, bile duct cancer.

An orphan drug refers to a product that is intended for use in a disease or condition that affects fewer than 200,000 individuals in the United States. (Reporting by Jennifer Robin Raj in Bangalore; Editing by Amitha Rajan)
