Chevron to test upgrading technology at Pascagoula
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Chevron Corp (CVX.N) on Thursday said it plans to build a pre-commercial plant at its Pascagoula, Mississippi, refinery to test a new heavy-oil upgrading technology.
The company said the technology, called Vacuum Resid Slurry Hydrocracking, could significantly increase yields of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel from heavy and ultra-heavy crude oils.
Construction of the pre-commercial plant, which will have a capacity of 3,500 barrels per day, is expected to start later this year.
