Aventine gets air construction permit for ethanol plant

Mon Sep 24, 2007 4:46pm EDT

Sept 24 (Reuters) - Aventine Renewable Energy Holdings Inc AVR.N said it received an air construction permit from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management for construction of an ethanol plant at Port of Indiana, Mt. Vernon.

An air construction permit is required before installing or altering any equipment that could emit an air contaminant.

The plant, once constructed, would produce up to 226 million gallons annually of denatured fuel-grade ethanol, the U.S. ethanol producer and marketer said in a statement.

Aventine said initial production from the plant is expected by the end of 2008. (Reporting by Ramya Dilip in Bangalore)
