ZymoGenetics gets FDA guidance for trial of Atacicept

Oct 4 (Reuters) - ZymoGenetics Inc (ZGEN.O) and Merck Serono received official guidance from U.S. health regulators for the design of a clinical trial for their experimental drug to treat damaged kidneys.

The drug, Atacicept, is being tested for treating lupus nephritis, which is characterized by inflammation of the kidneys, ZymoGenetics said in a statement.

This is one of two clinical studies intended to form part of the application for marketing authorization of Atacicept, it added. (Reporting by Aditi Samajpati in Bangalore)
