Quiksilver sees wider loss in first quarter

LOS ANGELES, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Action sports apparel maker Quiksilver Inc (ZQK.N) widened its projected first-quarter loss on Tuesday due to weakness at its company-owned stores and delayed reorders of winter sports merchandise.

The action sports apparel maker, whose brands include Quiksilver, Roxy and Rossignol, said it now expects a loss of between 9 to 12 cents per share in its 2008 fiscal first quarter. It had previously been expecting what it called a "small loss" in the quarter.
