Coach reports higher quarterly profit

NEW YORK, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Handbag and accessories maker Coach Inc (COH.N) reported higher quarterly profit on Tuesday, helped by strong demand for its fall products, including the new Ergo line of handbags.

Coach said net income for its fiscal first quarter ended Sept. 29 was $154.8 million, or 41 cents per share, compared with $125.6 million, or 34 cents per share, a year earlier. (See here for "Shop Talk" -- Reuters' retail and consumer blog) (Reporting by Aarthi Sivaraman)
