Barry Callebaut expects volatile cocoa prices

ZURICH, April 3 (Reuters) - The world's largest chocolate maker Barry Callebaut (BARN.S) said on Thursday cocoa prices were expected to remain volatile.

"The first six months of fiscal year 2007/08 were impacted by exceptionally high and volatile raw material prices," the group said in a statement.

"Cocoa prices surged by almost 50 percent between September 2007 and end-February 2008, followed by a sharp correction in mid-March. Cocoa prices are expected to remain volatile." (Reporting by Katie Reid)
