ZURICH, Aug 7 (Reuters) - Swiss drugmaker Novartis (NOVN.VX) has started the shipment of its influenza virus vaccine Fluvirin to the United States for the 2008/2009 influenza season.

The company said on Thursday at least 20 million doses would be available by the end of September, when widespread vaccination campaigns usually begin. Additional manufacturing capacity has recently been approved by the U.S. health authorities for Fluvirin pre-filled syringes, it said. (Reporting by Sven Egenter)
