Canadian Liver Foundation Selects Fusepoint for Enhanced Managed Services

Thu Jul 31, 2008 10:21am EDT
TORONTO, ONTARIO, Jul 31 (MARKET WIRE) --
Fusepoint Managed Services, a leading provider of outsourced IT
infrastructure services, today announced it has been selected by the
Canadian Liver Foundation (CLF) to host and maintain its mission-critical
infrastructure - the organization's primary vehicle used to drive
education, research and funding efforts.

Founded in 1969, the CLF is a national, charitable organization dedicated
to promoting liver health and reducing the impact and incidence of liver
disease through programs, research and education. Recently, the CLF
recognized it needed to improve its infrastructure capacity to meet
demand in the market and keep pace with the expectations of its end
users. In an effort to not only keep pace with technology related to
operations and fundraising, but also to take additional steps to
guarantee the security and safety of donor information, the decision was
made to undertake a major technical overhaul.

"With no in-house IT staff, it was a true challenge to keep up with our
hardware and software needs," recalls Sandra Taylor, Vice-President,
Health Promotion, Canadian Liver Foundation. "Ensuring the highest levels
of stability and reliability go hand in hand when scaling for the future
and thinking about new and innovative ways to improve public awareness
and raise funds for research. Moving to Fusepoint allows us to focus on
internal processes and programs, while giving donors and supporters peace
of mind that the confidential information provided to us is secure - with
zero downtime."

Fusepoint provides the CLF with enhanced managed services including
colocation, bandwidth, tape back-up, monitoring, and firewall protection
- guaranteeing the security, availability and performance of its servers
and related infrastructure at all times.

"With limited technical skill-sets and available resources, Canadian
non-profit organizations face the same security and technology challenges
as large businesses with deeper coffers," says George Kerns, President
and CEO, Fusepoint Managed Services. "Staying ahead of the threat curve
and maintaining high availability of mission-critical applications is by
no means easy in today's day and age. Leveraging the muscle and bench
strength of a managed service provider like Fusepoint makes both business
and economic sense."

    About The Canadian Liver Foundation

Founded in 1969 by a group of doctors and business leaders concerned
about the increasing incidence of liver disease, the Canadian Liver
Foundation (CLF) was the first organization in the world devoted to
providing support for research and education into the causes, diagnoses,
prevention and treatment of all liver disease. Throughout the
Foundation's 35+ years, we have served as a model for similar
organizations around the world. Today, our focus remains virtually
unchanged from those early days. Our mandate is to promote liver health
and to reduce the incidence and impact of all liver disease. To achieve
this goal, we work through our volunteer chapters across the country to
improve public awareness and understanding of liver health and liver
disease, raise funds for research and reach out to liver disease patients
and their families. For more information, visit www.liver.ca.
