Waterman FY profit, revenue beats mkt expectations

Oct 6 (Reuters) - Engineering and environmental consultant Waterman Group Plc (WTM.L) posted better-than-expected full-year revenues and profit on Monday, sending its shares up 6.25 percent in early trade.

For the year to June 30, Waterman's pretax profit rose 37 percent to 7.0 million pounds ($12.40 million).

Revenue rose 31 percent to 136.4 million pounds as sales from its overseas operations grew 57 percent.

The company raised its final dividend to 3.8 pence from 3.6 pence, taking the total dividend for the year to 6.3 pence, up from last year's 5.8 pence.

Looking ahead, Waterman said it was cautiously optimistic about the coming year due to the current difficulties in the financial markets.

At 0740 GMT, Waterman shares were up 6.0 pence at 102 pence. (Reporting by Balachander Surianarayanan in Bangalore; editing by Simon Jessop)
