The Verve hold nerve to stay top of album charts

LONDON (Reuters Life!) - Indie rock band the Verve stayed top of the British album charts with "Forth" for a second week running, the Official UK Charts Company said on Sunday.
The Verve, who reunited in June 2007, held off the challenge of Dublin band The Script and "Script", which rose one to two, with Michael Jackson's "King of Pop" climbing two to three.
The Verve's success comes more than a decade after their last album release -- "Urban Hymns" -- a record that spawned the megahit "Bittersweet Symphony" and went platinum in the U.S.
Miley Cyrus and "Breakout" was the only new entry in the top 10 of the album charts.
In the singles chart American singer-songwriter Katy Perry spent a fifth week at number one with her worldwide hit "I Kissed a Girl".
Perry's song has upset some people because it contains the following lyrics: "I kissed a girl and I liked it. The taste of her cherry ChapStick. I kissed a girl just to try it. I hope my boyfriend don't mind it."
Swedish DJ Eric Prydz and "Pjanoo" was a non-mover at two, with the Pussycat Dolls and "When I Grow Up" at three, the top 10's only new entry.
