WASHINGTON, Oct 2 (Reuters) - Datascope Corp DSCP.O, which makes cardiovascular devices, did not infringe patents owned by Johns Hopkins University and Arrow International Inc, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled on Thursday.

The patents were for devices in catheters used during dialysis that fragment blood clots.

A jury in Baltimore, Maryland, had decided in 2007 that Datascope infringed the three patents, but the Federal Circuit, which specializes in patent appeals, disagreed, saying "the jury's finding of infringement was not supported by substantial evidence."

Sweden-based medical technology group Getinge (GETIb.ST) said Sept. 16 it agreed to buy Datascope for $865 million in cash. (Reporting by Diane Bartz; Editing by Tim Dobbyn)
