FACTBOX-Planes ordered by AIG's leasing giant
(Reuters) - Aircraft leasing giant International Lease Finance Corp is up for sale following a U.S. Federal Reserve bailout of parent American International Group Inc (AIG.N).
Founded by Steven Udvar-Hazy in 1973 and sold to insurer AIG in 1990, ILFC's fleet is the world's largest by value, and the second-largest by number of planes behind General Electric Co's (GE.N) Commercial Aviation Services unit (GECAS).
ILFC has a fleet of 947 owned aircraft valued at $55 billion, according to the company's latest filings.
The Los Angeles-based company has more than 150 aircraft on order from Airbus, a unit of EADS (EAD.PA), and Boeing (BA.N), according to the most recent order data from the two planemakers.
Those planes are worth $25 billion at list prices, although aircraft are sold at undisclosed discounts.
Below are the planes ILFC has on order (end-August data).
