TOKYO, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Japan's TonenGeneral Sekiyu (5012.T) said on Monday it has temporarily shut some unspecified units at its 335,000 barrels-per-day (bpd) Kawasaki refinery in eastern Japan after lightning caused a power outage on Sunday night.

"We're making our utmost efforts to minimise the impact on our supply," the company said in a statement emailed to Reuters. "There is no effect on land shipments. We continue to expect to be able to enable supply stability to our customers."

TonenGeneral's Kawasaki facility is Japan's second-largest refinery.

A TonenGeneral spokesman said it does not expect a large impact on its production plans, but declined to comment on which units were down or the schedule for the restart.

Every year, there are some incidents of lightning-related temporary refinery shutdowns between July and September, but those units usually go back online within a few days. (Reporting by Osamu Tsukimori; Editing by Michael Urquhart)
