ECB says ready to aid orderly money markets

FRANKFURT, Sept 15 (Reuters) - The European Central Bank said on Monday it was "ready to contribute to orderly conditions in the euro money market."

The statement was made after the euro rose against the dollar EUR= in the wake of news U.S. investment bank Lehman Brothers LEH.L had filed for bankruptcy after rescue talks failed and the Federal Reserve said for the first time it would accept stocks in exchange for cash loans.
