Adult Swim nabs British "Office"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Adult Swim has acquired the original British series "The Office."

Cartoon Network's nightly programing block has picked up the two produced seasons of the Golden Globe-winning BBC series as well as "The Office" Christmas special.

The series, created, written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, first ran in the U.S. on BBC America and spawned the hit NBC version starring Steve Carell.

"The Office" marks Adult Swim's second consecutive acquisition from BBC Worldwide after the pact for the BBC series "The Mighty Boosh," which had its Adult Swim debut March 29.
