Dell says unlikely to make large acquisitions
ROUND ROCK, Texas (Reuters) - Dell Inc (DELL.O) is unlikely to make large acquisitions and will consider smaller, focused purchases, Chief Executive Michael Dell said on Thursday.
"I wouldn't hold your breath for a big acquisition," the CEO and company founder said at a financial analyst meeting at Dell headquarters in Round Rock, Texas.
"There are a number of network-effect acquisitions, where we can acquire a product line or a key methodology or a key group of skills that we can leverage across our entire network. Our acquisitions will be that kind of thing."
Dell, the world's second-largest personal computer maker after Hewlett-Packard Co (HPQ.N), made about nine acquisitions in its fiscal year ended February 1 for a total of about $2 billion.
