Pro-Gbagbo Ivorian television resumes broadcasting

ABIDJAN, April 1 (Reuters) - Ivory Coast's RTI state television controlled by Laurent Gbagbo resumed broadcasting on Friday after it was closed for almost a day by heavy fighting, a Reuters witness said.

The broadcaster aired images of cheering Gbagbo supporters and file footage of Gbagbo's swearing-in after a disputed November election that U.N.-certified results showed he lost to rival Alassane Ouattara.

Pro-Ouattara forces have taken control of much of Ivory Coast since they launched an offensive on Monday and entered the main city, Abidjan on Thursday, turning the commercial capital into a war zone. (Reporting by Tim Cocks; writing by Richard Valdmanis; editing by Andrew Dobbie)
