SINGAPORE, March 14 Singapore will be testing
imported Japanese produce for possible radiation, the
city-state's agri-food and veterinary authority (AVA) said on
Monday.
"As a precautionary measure, AVA will monitor Japanese
produce based on source and potential risk of contamination,"
AVA said in response to a query, adding that fresh produce will
have priority.
"Samples will be taken for testing for radiation. AVA will
continue to closely monitor the situation and its developments."
The move came after Friday's killer earthquake and tsunami
in Japan led to severe damage at nuclear power plants and news
of radiation leaks.
