FINANCIAL NEWS:

THOI BAO KINH TE VIETNAM

-- Orient Commercial Bank said its gross profit in the first 10 months of this year reached 252 billion dong ($14.1 million), or 99 percent of the annual target.

-- Exports of agricultural products is sure to surpass the $14 billion target for this year, the Agriculture Ministry said.

ECONOMIC AND GENERAL NEWS:

VIETNAM NEWS

-- Vietnamese and U.S. senior officials openly and frankly discussed issues of mutual concern relating to human rights on Tuesday in Washington.

-- Vietnam's first rice trading floor will debut in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang during the first ever Rice Festival at the end of this month.

LAO DONG

-- The Industry and Trade Ministry has established a steering board to oversee bauxite projects in the Central Highlands.

THANH NIEN

-- Three Vietnam Airlines flight attendants were detained in Seoul on Thursday after customs discovered a large quantity of precious metal, suspected to be gold, in their luggage.

-- Domestic gold prices are about 500,000 dong ($27) per tael lower than world prices now after the central bank lifted a ban on imports and consumers rushed to sell to cut losses, said Nguyen Ngoc Que, director of Sacombank's jewellery arm SBJ.
