FACTBOX-Security developments in Afghanistan, July 4

July 4 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 0730 GMT on Saturday.

PAKTIKA - One U.S. soldier and an Afghan army officer were killed when a suicide car bomber in a truck attacked a joint base operated by foreign and Afghan troops in the Zirok district of southeastern Paktika province, said Hamidullah Zwak, a spokesman for the provincial governor. Foreign forces then called in air strikes which killed about 30 Taliban insurgents, Zwak said. The Interior Ministry said about 20 insurgents were killed.

SOUTHERN AFGHANISTAN - A soldier in the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed by a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan on Friday, ISAF said in a statement.

URUZGAN - A roadside bomb killed one Afghan policeman and wounded one in southern Uruzgan province on Thursday, the Interior Ministry said.

NIMROZ - Two Taliban insurgents were killed when a roadside bomb they were planting exploded in the Delaram district of southwestern Nimroz province, the Interior Ministry said. (Compiled by Hamid Shalizi; Editing by Paul Tait)
