Engine failure blamed for British Airways crash

LONDON, Jan 18 (Reuters) - An initial investigation has shown that engine failure was to blame when a British Airways (BAY.L) Boeing 777 crash-landed at London's Heathrow Airport on Thursday, investigators said.

"At approximately 600 feet and two miles from touch down, the Autothrottle demanded an increase in thrust from the two engines but the engines did not respond," the Air Accidents Investigation Branch said in a statement. (Reporting by Paul Majendie; editing by Sami Aboudi)
