Quake shakes central Turkey, no casualties reported

ANKARA, Dec 20 (Reuters) - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 shook an area near the Turkish capital Ankara on Thursday, the country's earthquake observatory said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.

CNN Turk television reported that 10 to 15 houses had been damaged in Sirapinar village near Bala, where the quake occurred at 11:48 a.m. (0948 GMT). The extent of the damage was not clear.

Ankara provincial governor Kemal Onal earlier told CNN Turk television no damage or casualties had been reported. (Reporting by Daren Butler)
