Fuel tanker and bus crash in Zambia, killing 18
Police spokesman Bonnie Kapeso said the accident happened in the northern town of Chinsali, close to the border of Tanzania from where Zambia has been importing fuel for weeks following the shutdown of its sole 24,000 barrels-a-day Indeni refinery.
"We have not yet established whether the driver of the bus and the tanker are among the dead," Kapeso told journalists.
Zambia is also importing fuel from Mozambique boosting the numbers of fuel tankers on its poorly kept roads.
Energy minister Kenneth Konga said the Indeni refinery resumed production on Monday and output was expected to return to normal over the weekend. [ID:nLA595847]. (Editing by Shapi Shacinda and Louise Ireland)
