CHRONOLOGY-Major insurgent attacks in Algeria
-+ June 18 (Reuters) - Insurgents killed 24 Algerian paramilitary police in an ambush late on Wednesday, a local newspaper reported on Thursday.
There was no official comment on the ambush but, if the death toll is confirmed, it would be the deadliest single attack in the North African oil and gas producer for nearly a year.

June 18, 2009 - Insurgents kill 24 gendarmerie paramilitary police when they ambush their convoy as it travels along a major highway 180 km (110 miles) east of Algeria's capital, the Echorouk newspaper reports.
