GENEVA, April 28 (Reuters) - A top World Health Organisation official said on Tuesday the number of swine flu cases confirmed by tests in a laboratory has increased to 79 around the world.

Keiji Fukuda, WHO acting assistant director-general, also told reporters that all two British and three New Zealand cases were among travellers returning from Mexico.

The new strain of swine flu virus that has killed up to 149 people in Mexico spread to more countries on Tuesday, raising the spectre of a pandemic and hurting financial markets and airline stocks.
