L'AQUILA, Italy, July 10 (Reuters) - Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said on Friday he believed rich and developing nations grouped in the G14 would be the body to take major economic decisions in the future rather than the G8.

The G8 is made up of wealthy northern hemisphere countries and its critics say problems like the economic crisis and global warming has revealed its limitations.

"I believe that in future the G14 will have strength and could become a fundamental force for the global governance of the planet," Berlusconi told a news conference at the end of a G8 summit in central Italy.
