WASHINGTON, Nov 11 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama wants to make clear to the Afghan government the U.S. military commitment there is not open-ended, a U.S. official said on Wednesday after the president convened his war council for a strategy review.

Obama and his national security team considered options for a revised approach in Afghanistan and how much time it would take to implement each, the official said.

The president is deliberating on sending more U.S. troops to Afghanistan to confront a resurgent Taliban and its al Qaeda allies. (Reporting by Matt Spetalnick; editing by Mohammad Zargham)
