Strong 6.0 quake hits southern Peru - USGS

WASHINGTON, July 12 (Reuters) - A strong 6.0 magnitude quake hit southern Peru early on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

Its epicenter was 116.1 miles (186.8 km) deep, 36 miles (59 km) northwest of Juliaca and 485 miles (781 km) east-southeast of Lima, and it struck at 1:12 a.m. local time (0612 GMT), USGS said on its website.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
