6.5 quake shakes north Chile, no reports of damage
The temblor, which struck just after midnight (0305 GMT), rattled the northern region of Tarapaca, where it caused a power outage in the southern area of the regional capital of Iquique after a substation failed.
It was less intense in copper mine-rich Antofagasta.
Emergency office ONEMI said the quake was not strong enough to trigger a tsunami.
The USGS said the earthquake struck at a depth of 6.2 miles(10 km), 970 miles (1,560 km) north of the capital Santiago.
