CORRECTED Magnitude 6.1 earthquake hits off Guatemala

MEXICO CITY, April 14 (Reuters) - A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck off the Pacific Coast of Guatemala on Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The quake struck at 9:03 p.m. (0303 GMT on Tuesday). The epicenter was located 45 miles (73 km) south-southeast of Escuintla, Guatemala.

The Fire Department in Guatemala City said there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The USGS verified the quake's magnitude at 6.1 -- which is capable of causing severe damage.
