Moderate quake shakes central Chile, light damage
SANTIAGO, Dec 15 (Reuters) - A moderate earthquake of 5.8 magnitude shook central Chile on Saturday, breaking some glass but causing only light injuries around the port cities of Valparaiso and Vina del Mar and in the capital Santiago.
The quake, which also caused brief power outages, was centered 30 miles (48 kilometers) northeast of picturesque Valparaiso at a depth of 20 miles (32 kilometers) under the Pacific sea bed.
Chile's National Emergency Office (Onemi) said it was monitoring for further damages.
On Nov. 14, a 7.7 magnitude quake near Antofagasta collapsed homes and buildings, killing two people and injuring 115, and there have been a number of aftershocks since then. (Reporting by Pav Jordan, editing by Todd Eastham)
