CHICAGO, Feb 28 (Reuters) - At least six people were injured on Thursday in a suspected gas explosion inside a beauty salon that also wrecked two adjacent stores in the Chicago suburb of Waukegan, Illinois, authorities said.

Rescuers were searching through the rubble inside the single-story building to determine if there were any other victims.

"We had reports of people strewn about the streets but it was actually mannequins from the (tuxedo rental) business," Waukegan Deputy Fire Chief Dan Young told local radio.

The city's police chief said the explosion was believed to have been caused by a natural gas explosion. Gas and electricity had been cut off to the surrounding area.
