JAKARTA POST

- ISLAMIC SECT IN WEST JAVA ATTACKED

A large crowd vandalised a mosque and several houses belonging to members of the Ahmadiyah Islamic sect in West Java, injuring four people and causing traffic chaos in the main inter-city lane.

Last week the local government ordered the closure of the sect's compound, where 3,000 members live, after the Indonesian Council of Islamic Clerics declared the sect "heretical".

A high school teacher in West Java stabbed a 13-year old student three times during morning gym class. The victim died a few hours after the incident.
