China nabs 1,434 suspects over Urumqi riots
BEIJING, July 7 (Reuters) - Chinese police have arrested 1,434 suspects in connection with weekend rioting in the capital of the northwestern region of Xinjiang, the official Xinhua news agency said on Tuesday, as part of a crackdown.

Rioting broke out in Urumqi on Sunday, leaving 156 people dead and more than 800 injured.
