Strong quake strikes near Vanuatu - USGS

SINGAPORE, June 2 (Reuters) - A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the Vanuatu islands in the Pacific Ocean on Tuesday, the United States Geological Survey said.

The quake was centred 25 miles (40 km) west of Port Vila and had a depth of 29.8 miles, the USGS said. There was no threat of a tsunami, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said. (Reporting by Sanjeev Miglani; Editing by Alex Richardson)
