LONDON, April 15 (Reuters) - The outgoing director general of Britain's Takeover Panel Robert Hingley is joining Lazard on April 26 as a managing director in the firm's financial advisory group, the investment bank said on Thursday.
Hingley, 49, spent the last two years as head of the UK's takeover watchdog and will lead the bank's UK financial institutions group alongside Will Samuel, London-based vice chairman of Lazard.
The Takeover Panel said in February that the arrival of its new director general Peter Kiernan had been delayed, and that it had drafted in Philip Remnant, chairman of the Shareholder Executive, to serve in his stead.
Kiernan is a senior Lazard banker who advised Kraft KFT.N on its acquisition of Cadbury. British lawmakers have probed the deal to see if the U.S. company raised false hopes after its U-turn on plans to keep a Cadbury plant open.
