FACTBOX: Pedal to the metal: supercars race ahead in Singapore
Oct 3 (Reuters Life!) - Singapore's booming economy helped the city state clock the world's fastest growth rate for U.S.-dollar millionaires last year, and has fuelled a craze for luxury cars among the rich.
Here are some facts and figures on the most popular and most expensive cars for sale in the small southeast Asian island.
BOOM, VROOM
-- Dealers expect MASERATIS to be the most popular luxury cars in Singapore this year with between 45 and 50 new models due to be registered. By the end of 2008, about 108 will be registered.
-- In 2006, 29 LAMBORGHINIS were newly registered. Dealers expect 36 to 37 new registrations for 2007 and a similar number for 2008.
-- Last year, 26 new FERRARIS were registered. Between January and August this year, the number was 39.
-- Last year, about 20 ASTON MARTIN LAGONDA models were sold and dealers expect registrations to hit nearly 30 this year.
THE PRICE OF LUXURY
