European shares briefly turn negative; oils down

FRANKFURT, Sept 15 (Reuters) - European shares briefly turned negative in morning trade on Tuesday, with energy stocks taking the most points off the leading index on the day that marks the anniversary of the Lehman Brothers collapse.

At 0757 GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 .FTEU3 index of top European shares was up 0.1 percent at 991.64 points after falling to a low of 990.59 earlier in the session.

The DJ STOXX European Oil & Gas Index .SXEP was 0.2 percent lower, with BP (BP.L), Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.AS) and Tullow Oil (TLW.L) down 0.7-0.9 percent. (Reporting by Christoph Steitz)
