Australian dollar down 1 pct on USD

SYDNEY, April 12 (Reuters) - The Australian dollar fell more than 1 percent against its U.S counterpart on Tuesday, as investors booked some profits following massive gains with the market very long of Aussie.

The Aussie fell to a session low at $1.0390, retreating from a 29-year peak of $1.0585 struck on Friday. The Aussie also fell sharply against the yen, shedding more than 2 percent at one stage to 86.89 yen. (Reported by Cecile Lefort)
