Peru sol gains nearly 6 pct in 2012 despite record cenbank buys

LIMA, Dec 28 (Reuters) - Peru's sol closed at 2.552 per U.S. dollar on Friday, ending trading for 2012 with gains of 5.72 percent despite record purchases by the central bank of $13.85 billion to curb advances to a 16-year high.
