US STOCKS-Wall St opens lower on bank worries, data

NEW YORK, Aug 4 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks fell at the open on Monday as investors worried about the impact of a housing slump on bank profits and inflation data that showed mounting price pressures in the economy.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI was down 13.60 points, or 0.12 percent, at 11,312.72. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX was down 2.91 points, or 0.23 percent, at 1,257.40.
