Japan dep finmin Noda wants China to free up yuan
DUNDEE, Scotland, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Japan's deputy finance minister called for China to run a flexible exchange rate on Friday.
Speaking as he arrived for a meeting of Group of 20 finance ministers in Scotland, Yoshihiko Noda said: "It is desirable that the yuan will be flexible."
Asked about previous quotes by Japan's finance minister Hirohisa Fujii about the yen, he said: "Japan has never been in favour of a strong yen."
He noted, however, that the weekend's meetings would not aim to deal with currency issues.
