Can$, Aussie hit 14-month highs as commods rise

LONDON, Oct 13 (Reuters) - The Canadian and Australian dollars rose to 14-month highs against the U.S. currency on Tuesday on the back of gains in oil and gold prices.

Growth-linked and commodity-linked currencies have been performing well against a broadly weaker U.S. dollar. The Canadian unit rose to C$1.0291 CAD=D4, its highest since early August last year.

The Australian dollar also hit a new 14-month peak of $0.9096 AUD=D4.

Gold hit a record high of $1,066.40 per ounce XAU=. U.S. crude oil futures were up more than 1 percent above $74 per barrel CLc1. (Reporting by Ian Chua and Tamawa Desai)
