RIM may appeal court order on Certicom offer

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan 19 (Reuters) - Research in Motion Ltd (RIM.TO) was considering its options after a court blocked its C$66 million hostile takeover offer for Certicom Corp CIC.TO, the Blackberry maker said on Monday.

RIM may a appeal the Ontario Superior Court order that granted Certicom's request for an injunction. RIM said the court action would also prohibit it from participating in any auction for Certicom without Certicom's permission.

RIM offered of C$1.50 per share in for Certicom in December after the Mississauga, Ontario-based maker of encryption software spurned an attempt at a friendly deal.
