Oct 29 (Reuters) - Healthcare staffing services provider AMN Healthcare Services Inc (AHS.N) posted a quarterly loss, hurt by restructuring charges, and forecast sequentially lower fourth-quarter revenue.

The company posted third quarter loss of $2 million, or 6 cents a share, compared with a profit of $9.5 million, or 28 cents a share, a year earlier.

Excluding restructuring charges of 11 cents a share, the company earned 5 cents a share.

Revenue fell 47 percent to $166.4 million.

Analysts on average expected profits of 4 cents a share, on revenue of $169.5 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

AMN Healthcare forecast fourth-quarter revenue to decline 10 percent to 12 percent sequentially.

The company said the lower sequential demand in its locum tenens, or physician staffing segment, which resulted from market weakness in anesthesia staffing, would likely continue into the fourth quarter.

"Nursing orders continue to show signs of improvement, with increased momentum occurring in September and October," it said in a statement.

Shares of the company were down about 2 percent at $9.00 in trading after the bell. They closed at $9.14 Thursday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Amulya Nagaraj in Bangalore; Editing by Unnikrishnan Nair)
